Cates and Associates, Inc.
Background
Welcome to the Cates & Associates site. I am Dr. Jim Cates, a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of Indiana. The work of Cates & Associates falls into three primary areas:
- psychological testing for individuals, schools, courts,
and other agencies;
- counseling and therapy for children, adolescents,
and adults;
- consultation and training services for mental health
and social service providers.
To briefly describe my qualification, I have worked in the mental health field since 1977, as a therapist since 1982, and as a psychologist since 1994. I am certified in the treatment of addictions by the State of Indiana, and also certified as a clinical psychologist by the American Board of Professional Psychology. I have worked in outpatient, inpatient, residential, and home-based settings.
My work with psychological testing includes a wide variety of issues, including legal concerns (and subsequent testimony as an expert witness), educational concerns, diagnostic, emotional, and personality considerations, and treatment interventions.
I provide counseling and therapy services, as do Associates. All Associates are licensed in the mental health field and well-respected in their areas of practice.
I consult with agencies requesting this service as a team approach to case management and intervention. I also provide workshops to agencies and groups as requested.
